    Operations research (British English: operational research) (OR) is a discipline that deals with the application of advanced analytical methods to help make better decisions. Further, the term operational analysis is used in the British (and some British Commonwealth) military as an intrinsic part of capability development, management and assurance.     There are a range of statistical methods which can be used in manufacturing process improvement. In many instances, the statistics need not be complex, in fact one of the primary benefits of implementing statistical analysis, is not the statistical methods themselves, but more that fact that engineering and management focus is placed on a process which by itself results in an improved process. In practical Time Series Analysis we look at data sets that represent sequential information, such as stock prices, annual rainfall, sunspot activity, the price of agricultural products, and more. We look at several mathematical models that might be used to describe the processes which generate these types of data.

    Statistical process control (SPC) is a method of quality control which employs statistical methods to monitor and control a process. This helps to ensure that the process operates efficiently, producing more specification-conforming products with less waste (rework or scrap).SPC can be applied to any process where the "conforming product" (product meeting .
